Two Tips For Enhancing Your Landscaping

After sitting in your house all winter long, it is nice to get outside once spring arrives. Instead of just getting outside to do nothing, take this time to enhance your landscaping to make your yard beautiful. Below are two tips on how you can make some changes.

Water Fountains

Adding a water fountain or waterfall to your backyard gives you a peaceful feeling when sitting outside. Below are two types you can choose from:

Wall Fountain

If you do not have a lot of space in your back yard, a wall fountain is a good choice. You can purchase a fountain that hangs from a fence or garden wall. You can also choose a freestanding fountain. No matter which type you choose, the water falls down in a sheet on the face of the fountain and collects in a basin at the bottom of it. Imagine sitting back and listening to the sounds of a waterfall.

Spouting Fountain

A spouting fountain has a pipe that sprays the water up into the air. This type of fountain requires a submersible pump, so it works well when attached to a pool or pond. When looking at these fountains, you will often see them used with a statue with the water spouting up through the mouth or other spot.

Fountains can be difficult to install on your own, so you may want to consider hiring a contractor to install them for you, such as a plumber. Once installed, they can help you maintain the fountains, and make repairs if something goes wrong.

Driveway Flowers

Dress up your driveway by planting shrubs along it. This not only looks nice, but also gives you privacy from your neighbors. Yarrow plants work well for this, as they get up to three feet tall and produce bright yellow flowers.

Perennials that would work well for your driveway include:

  • Daylilies
  • Coffeeberry
  • Ceanothus
  • Roses

If you do not want to dig up soil, you can use colorful containers along your driveway and fill them with annuals. Petunias cascade over the side of a container and look nice. The floss flower also looks nice as it is covered with fuzzy blooms in multiple colors. Plant marigolds in one of the containers to give the area some beautiful yellow and orange color. The marigolds also keep pests away, as they do not like the smell of these flowers.

Group containers together at the end and beginning of the driveway, or place them along each side of it.

When you finish installing water fountains and flowers, your yard will be an enjoyable and comfortable place for you and your family to enjoy. For more information about landscape design, navigate to this website.
